Steve McMichael, a Hall of Famer and member of the iconic 1985 Bears defense, has passed away at the age of 67. Announced by Jarrett Payton, McMichael, a former third-round pick by the Patriots in 1980, played for the Bears from 1981 to 1993, appearing in 191 games and earning recognition as a two-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler. Diagnosed with ALS in 2021, he had recently entered hospice care and was affectionately known as “Mongo,” after a character from Blazing Saddles.
