Justin Verlander, a future Hall of Famer, has agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract with the San Francisco Giants for the 2025 MLB season pending a physical. At 42 years old, Verlander is entering his 20th season and is coming off an injury-plagued 2024 season with the Houston Astros. Despite his age, Verlander has had recent success, winning his third AL Cy Young Award in 2022 and posting a 3.22 ERA in 2023. Justin Verlander has had an impressive past three seasons with a 129 ERA+ and 3.49 FIP in 427 2/3 innings. He has 262 career wins, a WAR of 81.0, and is approaching 3,500 career strikeouts. With eight All-Star selections and three Cy Young awards, he is considered one of the greatest pitchers of his generation. Verlander will be looking to lead the Giants to a successful season after signing with them, joining Logan Webb and Robbie Ray in the rotation.
